Beet, Cylindra - Heirloom An heirloom variety the Cylindra Beet stays true to it's name by growing somewhat uniformly from top to bottom as if in a cylinder. The flesh is dark red in color and full of sweetness. Chef's love it because it creates uniform slices, free from rings, that are easy to peel. Gardeners love that it can be planted closer together than traditional beets saving them room in the garden.
Plant 30 days after last frost. Plant seeds about 1/2 inch deep and one inch apart. Allow 12 to 18 inches between rows. 60 days to maturity then the beet can be harvested.
