Broccoli - Calabrese Heirloom

An early heirloom broccoli of excellent quality for fresh use or freezing often found in the marketplace. Calabrese was brought to America by Italian immigrants in the 1880s.

Grow in rich soil, with plenty of organic matter when the weather is cool, either in late spring or fall. Plant two broccoli seeds 1/4-inch deep, every 3 to 4 inches. Forms 3 inch to 4 inch heads on numerous side shoots. Broccoli requires approximately 40 days to maturity.
